Have you been waiting for the scorching summer heat to subside? Here are some great fall outdoor activities you’re sure to enjoy.

When the temperatures drop to more comfortable levels than the heat of July and August, it’s time to get outside. The fall season is when you’ll see the leaves changing colors and enjoy the cooler temperatures that make things more comfortable and enjoyable for you. If you’re not sure what you should do when you go outside, we’ve got some great suggestions to give you some fall outdoor activities you’re sure to love.

Rock Climbing

The fall season is perfect for rock climbing. You’ll have fewer bugs to deal with, and most of the foliage is reduced, ensuring you have better views of what’s going on when you’re climbing. The amazing panoramic views of the changing leaves are the cherry on top of the experience when you reach the top of your climb and enjoy the amazing scene before you. If you’ve been waiting all year to get out your ropes and gear, now is the time to head to some great cliffs and mountains for some wonderful climbs.

Camping

Nothing says outdoors like camping, and it can be one of the best fall outdoor activities for you to enjoy while in the wilderness. The cool, dry weather means fewer people, bugs, and sweat while in the wilderness. With kids in school, you could easily enjoy a week-long camping trip and never see another person during your time in the wilderness. Add some hiking to the mix and enjoy the activities of a new area while admiring the amazing backdrop of the changing leaves in the area you visit.

Paragliding

The winds tend to pick up in some areas during the fall, and the changing leaves make for a fantastic view below you during your time falling from the sky. You can try paragliding with an instructor or on your own and enjoy the amazing fall landscape as it spreads out below you. This is a fantastic activity to make it fun for you to enjoy your time in the air as you glide down to the ground. This could become your new favorite activity for spring, summer, and fall.

Mountain Biking

You can go mountain biking at any time of the year, but the best times are during fall and spring. This has to be one of the best fall outdoor activities, making it easy for you to enjoy some fun on the trails that are becoming littered with colorful leaves that offer the views you want to see. The lower temperatures allow you to have more stamina than in the summer, and the cooler temperatures mean you won’t have to deal with as many bugs as you would in spring and summer.

Fishing

Fall is a great time to go fishing, but you will have to set your lines a little deeper than you would during the summer months. This is a great time to bring back some wonderful fish, especially if you’re camping and want to cook them over the fire. Check seasonal limits and dates before fishing, but if it’s allowed in the area, you could have a great time catching some bass, muskie, and walleye.

Zip Lining

Another great activity that takes you higher in elevation is zip lining. Many zip line tours and locations offer several great fall outdoor activities for you to enjoy before the grand finale of taking to the trees and crossing a wide expanse in a line. This is a wonderful activity for a family or group of friends to make memories and know that they have had a great time in the woods doing something fun. Fall is a great time for this activity because of its views and the lack of bugs as well.

Apple or Pumpkin Picking

Apple and pumpkin are the flavors of fall, making this the perfect season to pick your own items from the fields and orchards. There isn’t much of anything better than picking out your harvest that will become a Jack o’ Lantern, apple pie, or pumpkin pie. Get out there and pick some apples and pumpkins that will make your fall a lot more fun and enjoyable.
